Privacy Policy

How CoinCalc treats your data. We are designed around not collecting personal information — calculations run in your browser, and we ask for an email only when you actively reach out.

1. Who we are

This policy applies to https://coincalc.in (the "Site"), operated by CoinCalc ("we", "us", "our"). Registered correspondence address: [Registered office address — update before launch].

2. The data we collect

We have built the Site so that the overwhelming majority of users never give us any personal data. Specifically:

  • Calculator inputs stay in your browser. They are never sent to our servers unless you click "Share" (which encodes them in a URL — see section 4).
  • Saved scenarios are stored in your device's localStorage. They are not synced to our servers.
  • Name and email are collected only when you voluntarily submit a contact form, newsletter signup, or "Get a plan" request. We use them only to respond.
  • Anonymous visit counts (a single integer per page) power the live counter shown in the footer. No personal identifiers are tied to these counts.
  • Analytics: if NEXT_PUBLIC_GA4_ID is configured by the operator, Google Analytics 4 is loaded with anonymize_ip on. Until you accept the cookie banner, GA4 is not active.

We do not collect or process Sensitive Personal Data or Information (SPDI) as defined under Rule 3 of the IT (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011.

3. How we use what we collect

  • To reply to your enquiry (when you write to us).
  • To send our weekly newsletter (only if you explicitly subscribe; opt-out in one click).
  • To improve the Site through aggregated usage counts.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.

4. Where your data goes

  • Hosted on: our hosting provider's infrastructure (CDN-fronted; static content served from Edge nodes).
  • Lead/newsletter submissions: sent to the form-handler endpoint configured in NEXT_PUBLIC_LEAD_ENDPOINT. Where this endpoint is operated by a third-party processor (e.g. Formspree, Web3Forms), they act as our data processor under contract.
  • AI assistant (SubhSri): in default "local" mode, runs entirely in your browser. In "claude" mode (operator-configured), your chat messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses; we do not retain transcripts on our servers.
  • Live data feeds (AMFI, FX): we fetch public NAV and FX data on our servers and serve it to your browser. No personal data is sent to those upstream providers.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

See our dedicated Cookie Policy for details. In short: a small number of strictly-necessary items (theme preference, dismissed banners) live in localStorage; analytics cookies are loaded only after you accept the cookie banner.

6. Your rights under the DPDPA 2023

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update it if inaccurate.
  • Erase it ("right to be forgotten") subject to legitimate retention.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, including unsubscribing from newsletters.
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity.
  • Grievance redressal — see our Grievance Officer.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@coincalc.in with the subject line "DPDPA request". We respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

  • Contact-form messages: retained for up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Newsletter email addresses: retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Anonymous visit counters: aggregate-only, indefinite.

8. Children

The Site is intended for users 18+ (adult financial decisions). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

9. International users

The Site is built for and primarily used by users in India. If you access it from outside India, you consent to the transfer of any personal data you submit to our hosting in India for processing under this policy and the DPDPA, 2023.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes are announced via the in-product banner for at least 14 days.
